Usage / FAQ

Everything you need to use the music safely, keep your videos monetized, and credit the artists properly.

What IS Allowed

  • All of our music is freely usable in user-generated content (UGC) shared on platforms such as, but not limited to: YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Twitch. Our tracks are for non-commercial use. Commercial use requires a license (see below).
  • The music is copyright-protected, but you will not receive a permanent copyright claim on your video as long as you include correct text attribution in your video description or on your website. Email us immediately if you receive a copyright claim on your video and we will make sure our distributors and labels release your claim in 2-3 days, max.
  • You are allowed to monetize your videos on platforms such as YouTube as long as you attribute this site and link to it, as well as to our Spotify playlists. You may see a temporary copyright claim after your video’s copyright checks are complete, or you might sometimes see “no issues found”. To put it simply: your video will not be de-monetized, and you are helping our artists out with exposure and free advertising, by crediting us and making more people aware of this website. Everyone wins.

What is NOT Allowed

  • You may not use the music in association with any UGC that is illegal or prohibited, including, but not limited to, the promotion, endorsement, or incitement of hate, fascism, discrimination, sexism/homophobia/transphobia or violence of any kind. See “Types of Creator Content” below for more details.
  • You may not sell, transfer, sublicense, share, distribute, or give away the music.
  • You may not claim to be the creator or copyright holder of the music. SPECIFICALLY entering our tracks into Youtube’s Content ID system (all of them are already in Content ID, or managed by a 3rd party audio fingerprinting or licensing company). Legally, you do not want that headache of claiming our works as your own. Again, all of our artists’ music is copyright-protected and audio-fingerprinted. Protected works, but free and safe to use.
  • You may not create a derivative music track and claim it as your own music, even if the music has been transformed or edited (“slowed and reverb”, etc), or if you have added other instruments or vocals to the music.

How to Attribute (Credit)

When using any of our music, you must include correct attribution (a small block of text) in your video description or on your website. There are two ways you can do this. Each must include a clickable link to this website (https://copyrightsafemusic.com) and our Spotify playlists (https://tinyurl.com/csmcplaylists).

Credit correctly, or the claim comes back

If you don’t properly and correctly attribute this website, your copyright claim (not a strike!) may be re-instated within 30 days, on your video. Receiving a claim from us or our distributors/labels/publishers will result in the de-monetization of your video if credit is not properly attributed. If you don’t want it to be de-monetized, just give credit! If you correctly attribute with the simple copy-and-paste procedure, you will have no issues, whatsoever.

If you have received what may seem like a bogus copyright claim on your video from using our tracks, please contact us hello@copyrightsafemusic.com

When contacting us via email, we also need your real/working email (not a burner account), your channel URL AND your video URL. We’ll get back to you right away and help you resolve things as quickly as possible.

Will I get a copyright strike if I use a track from here?

No. If you’re an independent creator, gamer, crafter, artist, or vlogger, and follow our usage policy, then all of our tracks are free to use across YouTube, Twitch, and everything else. You will never receive a strike from us, any label/publisher associated with the artists, or the artists themselves. Strikes are BAD. Claims ARE NORMAL, and they will be released (we need to know your channel and video URL, for proper release if issues arise). As always, please contact us quickly and your issue will be resolved quickly.

Why do I have to include your website, and/or Artist Names in the credit?

It’s the right thing to do, and it’s free publicity for our artists and website! Artists in our collective work hard to provide awesome music in all genres, for you and any/all content creators to freely use as you wish.

The reason we’re able to offer tons of great music for free (in both playlist form, and huge amounts of downloads!) is because our artists want to be heard, and help YOU as a content creator, and because of the exposure and free publicity that comes from working with us!

When you utilize our music in your content, you are properly promoting our website but more importantly, our artists, and the best part is, it doesn’t cost you a dime. You need good music for your content, and our artists then get more recognition and plays, from Spotify, YouTube, etc, and people adding their tracks to their personal playlists. Your videos remain monetized. Everyone wins!

Is CopyrightSafeMusic.com really FREE to use? No subscription?

Absolutely. 100%. For content creators (some of the hardest-working creative people on the planet), our music will always be free. We provide all of this awesome music without the fear of ongoing copyright claims or losing monetization as a content creator.

Our artists collect streaming revenue from creators streaming our playlists, and additional revenue from a creator’s video or livestream, depending on their territory on earth. AND, we link your channel from our “Friends” section, as well as feature you on our socials, especially when we notice you’re regularly using music from us. It’s literally a win-win situation, all around.

Are there issues using the music on Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram)?

Yes, sometimes. Meta have their own audio fingerprinting system that is separate from Twitch and YouTube. We are looking into any issues that may come up with Meta platforms, but since they are fully AI (support-wise) it is tough to find solutions to any issues that arise. YouTube can be even worse, especially as of August 2026.

Can I submit my music for consideration?

Absolutely. We listen to everything people send to us and WE WILL WRITE YOU BACK. Please see ABOUT/CONTACT above!

Why do you have a link to….. AI music….. at the bottom of the main page?

(We hope you actually take a brief moment to read this).

For options, personal choice, and ultimately, inclusiveness.

First and foremost, let’s be 100% clear: All of the core music catalog featured on CopyrightSafeMusic.com is entirely human-made, performed, and produced without the use of AI. However, we have included a distinct link to a separate site run by some friends of ours: AI Music For Free (AIMFF). This independent project is run by a small group of neurodivergent and differently-abled creators who use AI tools to compose music for content creators in highly desirable, fresh, and useful background-music-friendly styles (including metal!). And yeah, basically all of their tracks sound damn good!

We know the conversation around AI in art is deeply sensitive as of our launch, in August 2026. As musicians ourselves, we have plenty of passionate thoughts about it. Ultimately, we believe the narrative needs a major shift: it shouldn’t be about cutting corners or replacing artists. It should be about accessibility.

Leveling the Playing Field
We have seen firsthand how AI tools allow creators with physical disabilities, chronic pain, or severe neurodivergent barriers are able to express their musical vision on their own terms. Not everyone can physically grip a guitar neck or play the piano. That doesn’t mean they don’t have a voice worth hearing.
The Intent Matters
AI is simply a tool. What matters is the human intention behind it. For the AIMFF crew, that intention is rooted entirely in inclusiveness and creative freedom for those who otherwise wouldn’t have a seat at the table.
A Note on Artwork
Like many independent artists today, we occasionally use AI-assisted tools for visual assets to match the aesthetic of our website. Some artists in our collective use AI-assisted tools for their artwork, to match the abstract mood of their albums or tracks. This is strictly a visual choice and does not mean the music itself was generated by AI.
Full Disclosure, Full Control
If you only want 100% human-crafted music for your streams and videos, you are already in the right place: this entire CSMC site is built for you. If you are curious about what an inclusive, experimental AI project for content creators might sound like and what it might offer, our friends’ door is wide open.

The choice is entirely yours.

P.S.: If you want a brilliant example of how AI can amplify hilariously original, weird concepts, go check out the viral fake album art and tracks by Obscurest Vinyl. Sometimes, the tools are just there to make us laugh and appreciate a wild idea.
